Chapter One Introduction to Modern Physics
Time, the thought of controlling this elusive and almost unnoticeable force of the universe has plagued the minds of men for many a century. Yet, maybe it would be easier to uncloak the mystery of the universe's most powerful force, if we knew what time was. Time, by human standards is a guideline showing the people how to behave and act. However, in no way is our perception of time an efficient source of dilation and therefore could not even comprehensively map the world of Time. In order to identify what time is one must look at a larger scale. What does 'time' describe other than human behavior? Time, in a literal sense, is a measurement of physical and chemical reactions that take place in space. One knows this key characteristic of time, for without time, particles of matter could exists in two places at once and/or not move at all. Since all particles are in constant motion, as described by Kinetic Molecular Theory, time is introduced to allow for movement and reaction. Hence, time's purpose: A measurement associated with the entire universe, allowing for quantities of motion, reaction, gravity, and change (Schreckenberger/Roeder, Addison-Wesley). The scientists and philosophers Aristotle and Galileo first notably studied the properties of space and time. Aristotle theorized that the general tendency of objects was to slow down and stop. Galileo, however, did not believe that Aristotle's hypothesis was correct, and proved to show him wrong. From Galileo's experimentation in motion the first true ideals of Relativity were born (Galileo). With Newton instating his theory that all universal forces were relative and dependant on one another, Planck and other scientists developed their own theories on the relative structures of electro-magnetism, light, heat, and electricity. Soon after, the World Line principle was developed along with Einstein's Theories of Relativity, showing that light was an unaffected constant of the universe, no matter what velocity an object traveled at. Because of Einstein's Relativity's vast acceptance, the theory rose to become the 20th century's most enduring concept. Quantum Mechanics, too, was on the verge of its birth. With Planck's studies of light and electric impulse, he found that light was able to react with metals and other objects to produce amounts of electricity. With the discovery of Planck's observations came the introduction of the photon. Photons are described as the particles that make up light, contrary to the belief that light was a wave. Relativity and Quantum Mechanics have proven to be the two major achievements in the 20th century. New studies of Quantum Mechanics showed that light was able to exist both in particle and waveform. De Broglie had entered the realm of Quantum Mechanics and soon stumbled upon a drastic idea, that not only light, but also all matter could exist in both particle and waveform. With the introduction of De Broglie's theory, the previous models of physics were dealt a menacing blow. Scientists were troubled, for, no man could truly perceive De Broglie's theory. Quantum Mechanics had created a rift in the realms of science, not only in physics, but in other areas as well.
Time Travel? "Time Travel" was given birth as a science fiction masterpiece. Whether those who pondered it did so with the thoughts of a good story or with the ambition of mastering the most elusive force of the universe is unknown. What is known, however, is that time travel gave rise to one of the most successful scientific ventures in humanity's existence. With Quantum Mechanics and Relativity ushering themselves to the forefront of physics, both theories were placed on the pedestal and had become the dominant guards of Universal Mechanics. By 1950, time travel had become an obsolete obsession of science and had been placed on the backburner of scientific study where science-fiction lovers swarmed around the conception. Thirty years would pass before a reasonable look at time travel would be gazed at once again. Science was emerging with computers, super-conductors, mirco-processors, and time travel was being looked at as plausible. 1953-1983 marked the thirty-year gap of Montauk Base's famous, yet unproven, Philadelphia Experiment. Dr. David Anderson would soon open New York's Time Travel Research Center, and Kip Thorne was taking a peak at his new life ambition (Anderson).
The Stage Relativity had proven that energy and mass were directly proportional, and with advancements in technology, acceleration had been shown to vary directly with mass as well. An increase in acceleration would cause an increase in mass creating an output of more energy, an increased gravity well, and therefore a dilation of time. Speed and mass had become the potentiometer of time. However, an increase in acceleration could only dilate time to a limited extent. Even in the vacuum of space, time dilation on a massive scale would be nearly impossible due to friction created at high speed. Even with the dilemma of friction scientists were quite astounded with the link between gravity, mass, acceleration, and time. Quantum Mechanics had seen a rebirth with discovery of quarks and quantum foam. Quantum foam was theorized to be the make up of subspace, an immensely large network of particles unseen by all that spread itself across vast distances to map the universal plane. The theory of the Multi-Verse would soon arise after researchers of Quantum Mechanics proposed that perception of reality created a split in worlds. With recent studies of quantum mechanics and time travel, time is referred by some to be a nodal network. Schreckenberger's Principle was devised from a study (1994-Present) and states: When dealing with the structure of time, one must see that the past is a reflection from the present and that while past time moves away from present time the past's events move anti-parallel in a notion to build the present; While the future is a continuation of the present plane creating an extension of past and present events that continue to move parallel to time's future flow, yet time itself moves from the future to become the present and past. For which Part 2 states that with a time dilation an equal action affect is built upon the present plane, while the past will recoil from the present plane. In other worlds, an introduction to a world line at time X will appear normal to that world in the future plane of Point X, while the past of Point X will recoil and reverberate from the introduction. Meanwhile, developments in other areas of physics were occurring with the study of space. After noticing several ripples within the Cosmic Microwave Background, NASA released the breakthrough information confirming the existence of a Multi-Verse structure. Contained in the ripples of the CMB universes separate from our own carry out their own chain of events and reasoning. Therefore, World Line Theory is true, and it is also possible that these universes are parallel to our own allowing for time-world jumps.
In The Media: Timeline
Another fictional work by Michael Crichton, however, Timeline describes Time-World jumps between quantum foam. This subspace method of travel allows for a number of persons to rematerialize in other worlds like ours, that is running parallel, yet in a different time. Even though Timeline is a fictional piece, its writing is based off scientific studies of physics.
Space and Time
When the great scientists of the past, such as Einstein, said that space and time were linked, they were absolutely correct. Studies of space play a critical role in our understanding of the universe and its structure. Quantum Mechanics also plays an enormous role in the development of unique sciences. Although Quantum Mechanics is a complex area of physics, the subject matter does explain some of the Universe's own mysteries that other branches of physics could not. Even the principle of Relativity did not uncover light's true characteristics. Aside from being the universe's speed constant, light is an electric carrier, a quality that allowed for the development of fiber optics and broadband.
Gravity and Time Gravity is a gigantic principle of the universe. Despite the common saying, "Newton discovered gravity," gravity was around long before Newton was born. The physical force known as gravity has been influencing the actions of our universe since its creation. Gravity is the force that guides the universal complex, allowing for solar systems and universal expansion to occur. Gravity, like many other properties of objects, has its effects on time as well. As an object has an increased pull on other objects a "gravity well" forms in the fabric of space. A Black Hole is an area of space where the "gravity well" is incredibly deep that time and space is warped to a point where light cannot escape gravity.
News on Physics: White Holes White Holes contain the inverse properties of a Black Hole. Instead of drawing in matter, white holes eject matter into the universe. No White Holes have been proven to exist, however, strange gravity phenomenon have been categorized by space organizations to be opposite of a Black Hole's immense gravity well.
These new finds in gravity will allow for further studies in areas of time dilation through the use of a gravity drive. Gravity drives will allow for manipulation of gravity either to create a time-warped field, or as a means for propulsion.
Mass and Time The link between mass and time has been apparent since Einstein published his papers on Relativity. With an increase in mass, time in and around the object begins to slow down. This dilation of time can be described as a percentage through the equation 1 = % TE Ö(1+(m2/c2)) For which %TE is the percentage at which time is warped compared to Earth. With this advancement, Newton's proposition that all properties of the universe were relative to one another was panning out. Acceleration and Time The mix of Acceleration and Time was beginning to emerge has a new relative gold mine. With the Baryon Light Mass Paradox in Einstein's Theory of Relativity and the equation E=MC2, Einstein was left to explain how light which has a mass of 0 could have no energy when plugged into his equation. With this paradox standing between him and a physicist's glory, he issued the principle of Relative Mass. With an increase in speed comes an increase in mass, thus a light stream which travels at 186,282.4 mps (Miles per Second) has an increased mass. This increase in mass ties in with the paragraph above that explains how mass dilates time. Therefore by using common practices of geometry, it is easy to visualize the link between acceleration and time. The Mass Equation was also altered to demonstrate how acceleration caused dilation in time. 1 =% TE Ö(1+(v2/c2)) In the Relative Mass Equation, directly above, the resemblance between the normal Mass Equation is easily seen, however, in this case mass is replaced by velocity, shown by the symbol "v." The graphs shown below are data calculations derived from the equations listed above and easily display the influence upon time carried by other universal factors.
Conclusions on the Relative Factors of Universal Mechanics
After pondering all the key properties of the universe, and how effects in motion and attraction influence other properties that in turn cause a universal network of different characteristics, the universe can easily by considered a dynamic dimensional plane in which all matter and energy directly effect other areas. With different attractions of gravity, different variations of mass, energy, and acceleration, time dilates in differing quantities. The relations within a so-called universal network constantly reiterate the building of scientific concepts over the last one hundred years. From the Atomic Revolution to today's studies in Quantum Mechanics, scientific study has become the cement of a logically based society, and in the process of understanding the universe, the concept of time-travel was born.
Chapter 2 Time-Travel's Spotlight
While most people continue to live in the skeptic's world when the subject of time-travel is seriously discussed, others try to crack the enigma of time. While, personally, I started to ponder time-travel in 1994, many people from around the world had already established their legacy in the field of time-travel. Isaac Asimov, whom most consider a purely science fiction writer, had engulfed himself in a total scientific analysis of space and time. In his book, Great Space Mysteries, Asimov makes references to Wormholes, Black Holes, and other celestial features commonly associated with time-travel.
Recently time-travel has built a solid foundation for growth, especially when the Time Travel Research Center was founded in 1995. With Dr. Anderson's new establishment came an information exchange allowing for information and different theories to be spread at amazing speed. Today, the Time Travel Research Center is the host of the TriStar Information Database, which is the largest database dealing with the subject of time-travel on Earth. Here the forum of scientists creates an association of over 16,000 members, and thousands of published theories. With the arrival of the Time Travel Research Association came another achievement of Dr. Anderson, with the creation of the Time-Warped Field Generator. The utilization of the Time-Warped Field Generator has shown scientists' worldwide that time dilation is possible with the help of machinery (Anderson).
Theories Associated With Time-Travel and Physics
Astrophysics also became an outstanding branch of science carrying the dream of identifying and studying celestial objects. Several years ago, I had the pleasure of discovering that one of my family friends was deeply interested in the field of theoretical and astrophysics. Soon after, we began discussing different theories relative to several different fields of physics. One such discussion revolved around principles of light that Tony [Tony Roeder] named R-Particle. This particular theory dealt with light's emission from electrons and described a particle estimated to be around one million times smaller than the electron (By comparing De Broglie's equation to Einstein's Relativity). After spending several years working with R-Particle and its connections to light and photons, one can theorize that a photon is not only an almost mass-less particle but in all probability may actually be an electro-reversal ion. In other words, an ionic particle with the ability to change and differentiate between electrical charges depending on the atmospheric conditions, for which R-Particle would be the trigger of or initial phase of a photonic discharge, if not a photon itself. While this particular theory may not play a substantial role in time-travel, R-Particle is one of the many theories that focus on the electron (Schreckenberger/Roeder). Over the last several years, more and more physicists have come to view the electron as the defining factor in bonding and energy transfer, the key characteristics allowing for Universal Mechanics. A few scientists even believe that the electron may be able to generate a time dilation field on its own (Will be discussed later in the chapter). Closed Time-like Curve and Surrounding Theories The ideas revolving around Closed Time-like Curves also created a new branch into the study of time-travel, for after scientists comprehended the fact that breaking the speed of light was not necessary to time-travel, they began focusing on other, more plausible areas. The CTC, as it is commonly abbreviated, is considered to be a curve within a world line in which the flow of time is able to loop back into the past. This theory, originally introduced by Kurt Gödel, explained gravity's linkage to time; through an immense gravity distortion, a curve in space-time could possibly be looped back into the past (Gödel). Thomas Skeggs discussed, in an article recently, a construct he was working on that utilized the CTC Theory and electronic charges to create a time dilation. Although, the model is not yet complete for testing, similar designs have been proposed by Russian scientist: Vadim Chernobrov (Skeggs). The CTC Construct proposed by Thomas Skeggs is definitely an interesting endeavor, for to put it in his words; if successful the CTC Construct would lead to an affordable method of space travel and time dilation. Today, from the information one can gather, acceleration is the key to manipulating time. This fact makes quite a bit of sense; first, acceleration is the easiest characteristic to manipulate that has a direct influence on the rate of time, secondly, a change in acceleration is easy to measure and process, and finally acceleration yields the most notable results. However, acceleration has limits; from the Relativistic-Acceleration equation listed on page six, results clearly show that a reversal of time crated by amazingly rapid acceleration and velocity alone is very improbable, if not impossible, and a closed time-like curve function would be necessary. No matter what the theory may be, hundreds of theories discussing time-travel are currently circulating between the hands of young pioneers, educators, and the brightest minds of our time. Besides the mass interest in acceleration based time dilation and time-travel, other theories have arisen dealing with wormholes, black holes, and other cosmic warp devices. These particular theories seem to be formulated by either old-time science-fiction lovers, or by the new generation of time-travel researchers. While these methods of time-travel are definitely plausible, the technology to produce a wormhole, reach a black hole, and teleport has not been developed. Therefore, the methods of teleportation to form a rift in time are impractical, however, not unjustified. Another important question associated with time-travel is what type of device to carry out the procedure with. Some researchers believe a vehicular time-travel device will be necessary, which, in turn, would probably be designed for acceleration based dilation, however, others prefer a static, or stationary based system, that would most likely carry out a teleportation type of procedure. Quantum computers may someday be able to assist in static systems, yet, until a quantum computer is developed, static based systems will be incredibly difficult to engineer and almost impossible to maintain. Philosophy of Time Along with the mathematical and scientific research involved with time-travel and other areas of physics, philosophy has a major role in the understanding and comprehension of time and how events of the past, present, and future would be influenced by the introduction of time-travel. With the introduction of time-travel came the common belief that history could be re-written by entering the past and altering its events, theories were spewed into a curious society waiting for some answers. These foundation theories and principles appeared to be formulated upon a wave of immense philosophy, however, such conceptions as the Grandma and Suicide Paradox dealt with a One-World Line view of time and its flow. Therefore, altering the past in a way that directly affects the initial time-traveler would create a paradox with the person's actions and thoughts. These classical conceptions of time and its mechanics proved to remain standard for quite a while, however, with the introduction of Multiple-World Line view comes a whole new approach to viewing time's structure. According to previous one-world principles the main goal to safe time-travel execution and preservation of history, interference with the past would have to be strictly forbidden to do the enormous influence upon the future. However, viewing time as a multi-world structure would allow for easier fluency between worlds and times, yet, a multi-world structure does pose significant complexities. The previous philosophical view of time was described as a river in which knowledge, thought, and age slowly carried on. If someone were to hurl a rock upstream ripples would trickle downstream; this example, in simple terms, defines the future plane as described in Schreckenberger's principle. However, the simplistic concepts of time alteration were quickly eroded away by the newer time philosophies. Even the Multi-World View is not considered to be the only modern philosophy of time. While most people today view time and space as a Multi-World structure, others have proposed that time itself is of metaphysical nature, and that all appearances of time are ones projected by the mind. While this particular theory makes sense in every day concepts, it leaves out observations and experiments conducted in the fields of biology, chemistry, and physics, unless of course one perceives aging, observations of motion, and observations of reaction as images produced by the mind. However, in a research paper by Ciprian-Gabriel Chisega, he proposed that time is of the organic function, shown by the ability of cells and DNA to be amazing time keeping machines. Despite the vastly different views on the Philosophy of Time, all theories are acceptable and can be demonstrated possible with support from Classical and Modern Physics examples including a few philosophies based from metaphysics and biological interface. Of course, a few may ask what is the point to discussing the philosophies of time, and the answer is quite simple. Some philosophies explaining time's structure would leave room for assumption of past altering paradoxes; while today scientists theorize that the past and present build several different worlds that reflect many different plausible outcomes, which is even further supported by theories of Quantum Mechanics. While time-travel theories were building off these varying philosophical views, the real fervor for time-travel began within the last 20 years.
Chapter Three The Institutions of Research and Support Technology appears to be the main encourager for all areas of theoretical science these days, for time-travel the story is no different. Due to the philosophic and non-traditional nature of the science of time and time-travel, mainstream science did not incorporate time-travel until the technology caught up with the vision. Today there are several institutions, which study the aspects of time-travel, and strive to invent time dilation technologies. As mentioned earlier, the Time Travel Research Center would have to be the largest institution dealing with time-travel, and by far, home to the most data on the principle subject matter. However, universities also set up their own programs, not only that discuss time-travel, but other areas of theoretical physics as well. Despite the Time Travel Research Center's enormous size, and its important role to discovering time-travel technologies, without the universities, time-travel would be a dead cause. Berkley is one of the most recognized schools for its Astrological Departments, and is definitely a breeding ground for researchers of the more exotic branches of physics. Massachusetts Institute of Technology and California Tech are both noted for the research facilities and faculty the two universities provide. Universities are not the only educational structures that aid in development and spread of physicist's ideas, but corporations are responsible as well. PBS sponsored the NOVA presentation on time-travel, which included interviews with several of today's researchers and fundamental scientists such as Kip Thorne and Steven Hawking. While these presentations can be highly exclusive to the variety of theories produced throughout the world, shows that document the research being done and the effort being produced do a great service to all who strive to produce time-traveling, time dilating, and time controlling technologies. With Institutions, Universities, and Corporations opening the door to research databases, interest in time-travel dramatically increased, leading to new theories that are somewhat complex compared to earlier thoughts and philosophies. Modernized Theory R-Particle-Ionization Theory: Usage of Photonic-Like particles that ionize with objects causing energy reactions to occur that leads to the dilation of time. This particular theory was used in my own Traxcillium System, and was also noted my Thomas Skeggs in designing the CTC Construct Skin. Gravity Singularity Drive Theory: A theory associated with manipulation of gravity to create a contained gravity well strong enough to form a singularity in the space-time curve that could dilate and warp time. Quantum Gravity Singularity Drive System: The system designed to combine both the R-Particle-Ionization and Gravity Singularity Drive theories to form a massive construct. The construct design would consist of a large hollow cube in which a vacuum would be created. In the diagram seen below, the cube contains a large motor spindle incased within an airtight supporting structure, which keeps the Global Platform in place. The motor spindle connects to a set of four bars tipped with large spheres called Gravity Bearings. These gravity bearings are coated with the CTC Construct Skin as proposed by Thomas Skeggs, and electrically discharge when accelerated rapidly. This acceleration in turn increases the relativistic mass, and causes time dilation between the bearings and the Global Platform. As acceleration continues to increase, a gravity-well will form within the cube centered on the Global Platform, causing time to dilate. While this particular design has not been tested, nor has it been determined what exact acceleration would be necessary to create a gravity-well, the design is justified with the explanation of universal factors listed in Chapter One. Many theories circulate discussing the mediums of time-travel. My friend, Tony Roeder, believes that time-travel technology will grow along a specific curve starting with time dilation, then inter-time communication, and finally time-travel in its full context. While some theories are more justified than others, all have a scientific foundation that makes them worth researching, and thanks to the institutions and universities, some theories have worked their way up to levels of experimentation.
Chapter 4 Conclusions Since the days of H.G. Wells' The Time Machine, the world has been mystified by the principle of time-travel. No one would have imagined that, the then, science fiction masterpiece would captivate the world and change the way scientists thought about the subject. However, despite the scientific study that continues to say that time-travel does not violate the laws of physics, many people continue to remain skeptical on the subject. The general making of human society prohibits many from accepting the concept of time-travel. While the extremely theoretical characteristics of the study of time-travel make it easier to formulate a theory as compared to other branches of science, the general public often ridicules many researchers. A question that is often posed to me is "Why do you waste your time with something that is impossible?" The truth is, the impossible is just an excuse for people to escape from what they are too lazy or unmotivated to explore. While, the theories proposed by my peers and myself may not unlock the door to time-travel, I pray that the legacy to be left by our generation of time-travel researchers will be able to inspire and motivate the generations to come to explore the realms of the unknown. Space, time, life, and philosophy all need a rejuvenating force of researchers. In the words of Valarius, "There are no enemies in life, just people who motivate you to do what you haven't done before." While most still see time-travel as the science fiction thriller of the past, I leave this legacy to all, to pave the way for a day when time controlling technologies will be a thing of reality. The choice to believe or not is ultimately the decision of the beholder, I have presented the evidence, now you must decide what to do with it.
